The 9-Day Challenge

One arena a day for nine days.

Most of us think about our lives one piece at a time — work this week, money next week, health someday. The 9-Day Challenge looks at the whole picture, one arena a day, for nine days.

Who it's for: Anyone who wants a clearer picture of their own life — not a plan, not a program, just a clearer view of where things actually stand.

What you do each day: You get one arena, one question to sit with, and one small action. Each day takes under 20 minutes. No purchases, no special equipment, nothing to download. You can start any day, and you can miss a day without missing the point.

The nine days, in order:

1. Relationships

2. Financial / Stewardship

3. Fun

4. Environment

5. Career / Business

6. Spiritual / Faith

7. Emotional

8. Physical / Health

9. Intellectual / Education

Day 1 — Relationships

Focus: Relationships — The people in your life: spouse, children, family, friends, and neighbors.

Reflection question: Who did you actually spend time with this week — and who did you mean to?

Action (under 20 minutes): Send one message to someone you haven't talked to in a while. Nothing fancy. Just checking in.

Day 2 — Financial / Stewardship

Focus: Financial / Stewardship — The resources under your management: money, energy, and time.

Reflection question: Where did your time go yesterday — and did it go where you wanted it to?

Action (under 20 minutes): Write down yesterday's three biggest uses of time and yesterday's three biggest uses of money, side by side. Just notice what lines up and what doesn't.

Day 3 — Fun

Focus: Fun — The enjoyment of life: celebration, delight, and play.

Reflection question: What did you last do purely because it was enjoyable — not useful, not productive, just enjoyable?

Action (under 20 minutes): Do one enjoyable thing for 15 minutes, with no multitasking. Music, a game, a walk somewhere you like — your pick.

Day 4 — Environment

Focus: Environment — Your surroundings: your home, your community, your citizenship, and the earth.

Reflection question: Which room do you spend the most time in — and what does it feel like to be in it?

Action (under 20 minutes): Clear one surface — a desk, a counter, a table. Fifteen minutes, one surface, done.

Day 5 — Career / Business

Focus: Career / Business — The work you do and the business you build.

Reflection question: What part of your work would you keep doing even if nobody was watching?

Action (under 20 minutes): Write one sentence about what your work is for — not your job title, not your company, just what the work itself is for.

Day 6 — Spiritual / Faith

Focus: Spiritual / Faith — Your relationship with God and the life of faith.

Reflection question: When did you last feel closest to God — and what were you doing at the time?

Action (under 20 minutes): Take 10 quiet minutes. No phone, no agenda, no input. Just sit with the question.

Day 7 — Emotional

Focus: Emotional — Your inner life and emotional intelligence: feelings, responses, and reactions under pressure.

Reflection question: What happened the last time you reacted faster than you wanted to?

Action (under 20 minutes): Write down one recent reaction and what came right before it. Ten minutes, just describing — no fixing, no judging.

Day 8 — Physical / Health

Focus: Physical / Health — The body and its care: fitness, self-control, and rest.

Reflection question: What does your body need more of right now — movement, better food, sleep, or rest?

Action (under 20 minutes): Pick one: a 15-minute walk, or going to bed 20 minutes earlier tonight. Either counts.

Day 9 — Intellectual / Education

Focus: Intellectual / Education — The mind and its growth: learning, wisdom, discernment, and truth.

Reflection question: What did you last learn that changed how you think about something?

Action (under 20 minutes): Read one article or chapter about something you know little about. Fifteen minutes, something unfamiliar.

After day 9: If you want to go deeper, the free "I Am: An Excavation" tool at ninearenas.com/excavation walks through eight strata of who you already are and compiles your answers into a personal "I Am" statement.
